101 In 1001 Scrapbook

Number 47 on my 101 in 1001 is to "Make a scrapbook page for every item I complete". I've finally created page #1. It's a simple 8x8 page that just list all of my 101's and it's the first paper scrapbook page I've made in a long time. I'll probably add something else to it, I'm not sure yet. Hopefully in the next week or so, I'll be able to add some more pages to the book.

Even More Cards!

So card making must really be my thing now since that seems to be all I'm doing. I think I'm addicted. I actually made these cards for a card swap I'm participating in. My theme was "Thank You" (obviously). We were asked to make all of our cards the same that way everyone participating in the swap could have the same set. I didn't have enough supplies for that, but I did make each card the same way, just with different papers. For these cards, I used Recollections card stock for the background paper and their mini brads in black and white. The pattern paper and other solid papers are courtesy of S.E.I. Black Orchid 8x8 paper pad. I LOVE this paper. When I saw it in the store, I knew I wanted to use it for my cards. The "Thank You" stamp is part of a Stampendous! set (Ink It Up! ink in black). Lastly, the flowers are Got Flowers? brand which come in beautiful jars and Offray ribbon. Which set do you like better?

NEW: Inspirational Thursdays

In an effort to spark every one's imagination and to get the creative juices flowing, Thursdays will now be "Inspirational Thursdays"! Every Thursday, I'll post a quote. I hope that it will inspire you to create some great scrapbook pages, cards, tags, or anything else that gets into your head.

"It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them."

101 in 1001 #48: Make homemade cards for every occasion

Part of my 101 list is to make homemade cards for every occasion. In the past, I've told myself I would do this, but made up excuses not to. So far I've been able to stick with it this time. I've made a 50th birthday card and an anniversary card. On Monday, I was able to add another homemade birthday card to the list. My supervisor at work is big into creating a team environment. Since we have such a small group (only 6 of us including my supervisor) he decided he'd like to celebrate all of our birthdays. Our first group birthday was on Monday for a coworker I'm particularly close to. My task was to get a card and cupcakes for her, but to go along with my 101 list, I decided to make the card instead. I even found a related birthday quote to go on the inside of the card. When I first sat down to make the card, I had no idea how I wanted it to turn out. Because of that, I'm actually quite pleased with the finished product and my coworker appreciated the time I took to make her the card. What do you think?

Baby Albums Part 2

So I finally finished a baby album for a client of mine. Her daughter Krystal, is two years old, so it's actually a good time to have some pics together in an album. Previously, Krystal's mom has only had pictures of her precious daughter on Facebook. Now, through this album, Krystal (and her mom) will have something they can look out without having to log on to a computer.

In an earlier post, I showed images of the album without any pictures or embellishments. Below is the finished product. This album is an 8x8. I make most of my albums digitally and then go back and use physical embellishments. What do you think?

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my anniversary!!!! Well in my view anyway. No I'm not married but Webster's defines anniversary as "the annual recurrence of a date marking a notable event" and this date is a notable event for me. As of today, my BF and I have been together for 7 years. That's right, seven - since I was 16. Check out the card I made for him below (minus my personal message to him, of course). I don't know what we're doing today but I'm just happy we get to spend it together. I wouldn't trade these past seven years for anything in the world. He's my best friend and I just look forward to spending another seven (or eight, or 100) years together. Happy Anniversary Baby!

Free Journaling Class on Elle's Studio

I found this through another blog I follow, See Christina Scrapbook..., and had to pass it along! Elle's Studio will be hosting a free journaling class this month. This is the perfect class for those who sometimes have something to say, but aren't sure how to say it. It also goes along perfectly with the class I am taking at Big Picture Scrapbooking which will have a lot of journaling (26 pages worth!). So head on over to the Elle's Studio blog (click on the blinkie) to check it out.

"Me: The Abridged Version" Part 2

In an earlier post, I talked about how I signed up for this class with Big Picture Scrapbooking and how super excited I am about. Even though the class doesn't start until September, I just completed part of the pre-class assignment. I still haven't read the book, but I did complete the tag book. The purpose of the tag book is to help me think about things in my life that start with each letter of the alphabet. When it comes time to make the scrapbook, I'll pick an idea I've jotted down and that will be the topic for that page. For example...for the letter "A" I've written down Arian, one of my cats. For "P" I have pizza, one of my favorite foods, and Papa - what I call my dad. And to capture the nerd in me, I wrote down Harry Potter for the letter "H".

The tag book was actually really simple to make. When I signed up for the class, they supplied me with the templetes for the tags. I just printed out on card stock and added my own embellishments. If you know me, then you know I'm all about love - hence the hearts. What do you think? Have I inspired you to make your own?

Happy Birthday Tio!

Today is my uncle's 50th Birthday!!! To celebrate we took him out for some ribs and then we came back to my house, played Band Hero and ate some cake. For his birthday, I made him this card:

I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to be fifty years old. I know he's had some fun years. Here's to hoping you enjoyed your special day Tio and for many, many more!
