Halloween Party Prep

This week is all about getting ready for my 2nd annual Halloween Party next Saturday. Part of the prep is getting the way coverings ready. The whole idea is for the house to look like a cave/dungeon. To achieve this look, I purchased Black Out Scene Setters and some grey paint from Lowe's. I could have purchased stone Scene Setters but you only got 30 feet by 4 feet rolls as opposed to 100feet by 4feet with the black out kind. Next, all I did was paint. How do you think it turned out? I still have some more to do but I think they came out great.

Witch's Potion Ingredients

More Halloween crafting! There are many stores that sell witch's ingredient bottles but I decided to make some of my own. I got the jars from the dollar store and just used paint. I'm so proud of how they came out. What do you guys think?

Halloween Chalkboard

Since today is October 1st that means I only have 29 days to prepare for my 2nd annual Halloween party! Halloween is truly an event in my household. I won't even go into how much I've spent on Halloween goodies this year, but just know it's a lot. There are alot of things I see in catalogs that I'd love to buy but they are so expensive! This year, in an effort to be more thrifty, I'm making some things myself. The theme for this year's party is Witch's Lair but I want things that could be used for other themes as well. My first crafty project is a chalkboard for the drink menu. At the party, I have three "speciality" drinks (think witches brew and dragon's blood) and the chalkboard is where my guest will be able to see what they can get. This is probably the easiest project there is. Here's what I started with:

I got this simple chalkboard at Michaels. All you need for the project is some black paint, ribbon, and Halloween themed embellishements. This is what the chalkboard looks like with the black paint:

Here's the finished chalkboard:

Halloween Ideas

Halloween is my favorite holiday (yes, I do consider it a holiday). It's the perfect excuse to dress up for absolutely no reason at all and have some fun. Since I've moved away from home, I have started going all out for the occassion. Last year was the 1st Annual Halloween party at my house and this year will be even bigger and better! It's never too early to start planning your decorations so I thought I'd showcase some fellow ethusiastic celebrators and some great ideas they've come up with so far.
